Dr. Lawlor specializes in treating all types of rheumatologic disease. He has a special interest in Rheumatoid Arthritis, Polymyalgia Rheumatica, and Gout. He has spent many years in practice honing his skills through patient experience and study to recognize, diagnose, and treat these conditions.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid Arthritis also known as RA; is a condition in which your body attacks itself, otherwise known as autoimmunity. Patients with RA develop fatigue, joint pain, joint swelling and joint stiffness primarily in the joints of the hands, wrist and feet. However, it can also affect many other joints and organs.

Polymyalgia Rheumatica

Polymyalgia Rheumatica is an autoimmune condition that causes sudden onset of fatigue with associated severe hip and shoulder pain in adults. Known as PMR for short, it affects adults age 50 and up with increasing prevalence with each decade of life.

Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic Arthritis is an autoimmune arthritis that affects approximately 30% of patients with Psoriasis. It can affect many joints and will often cause joint pain, swelling and damage without treatment.

Gout is an inflammatory condition which occurs when the body is not able to clear uric acid. Uric acid is product of metabolism. Left untreated gout can affect joints and organs.

Osteoarthritis

Osteoporosis. This is a bone disease affecting the strength of your bones.

Lupus

Lupus is an autoimmune disease that affects multiple organ systems at the same time causing damage to tissue and organs. Lupus is widely known for its severity in young women, though it can rarely affect men as well.

Ankylosing Spondylitis

 Ankylosing Spondylitis is an inflammatory disease that may cause some of the small bones in your spine (vertebrae) to fuse. This fusing makes the spine less flexible and can result in a hunched over type posture.

Reactive Arthritis

Reactive arthritis is often felt as joint pain and swelling triggered by an infection in your body. Most often your intestines, genitals or urinary tract. Reactive arthritis will often target your knees or the joints of your ankles and feet. It can affect your eyes, skin and urethra.

Scleroderma

Scleroderma or SS is an autoimmune disease which affects connective tissue throughout the body often causing a thickening or scarring of the tissue.
